Calling Truck Loving Kids...

This is an event not to be missed. Great for kids of all ages, who
get excited about trucks (yes, adults too). This is an event where
they take trucks from the quarry and allow kids to climb on them,
they also usually have tractor trailers, diggers, dump trucks, fire
trucks, etc. The kids get to blow the horns and sit in the
seats. Lots of great photo ops. Last year they had a big pile of sand
the kids could play in and I think they had stuff (rocks, quartz, and
other stones in the pile for the kids to find). Pretty messy but fun
for the kids. It is poorly and rarely advertised and there is very
little information about it, but here is what I have.

Sunday School Classes

First Presbyterian is having open enrollment for Sunday School, if you dont already have a church. Im posting this because my son went to Vacation Bible School and they were really great.

For those of you who don't currently have a home church, we are doing some exciting new things at First Presbyterian and this Sunday kicks off the new Sunday School year. If you are interested in registering your child, you can email me back, call the church office at 363-7590, or just show up a little before 9 on Sunday to fill out the short sign up card. The class breakdowns are 3 years old to kindergarten, first through third grade, fourth through sixth grade, and seventh through twelfth grade.

Sunday School goes from 9 until 9:50 or so and worship starts at 10. We have nursery care for kids up to age 5 or so during the service and we have Children's Church for elementary aged kids during the service. The kids go in for the first 10 to 15 minutes of church, then there is a children's sermon, and they are dismissed with that weeks teacher. Children's Church is based on a rotational learning system so we teach the same basic lesson in many different ways, including stories, video, crafts, cooking, music, games, and video. We implemented this system two years ago and the children all love it.

Our Vacation Bible School Fall Reunion is next month - watch for details in the paper and in your email!!

Check out this wonderful interactive site. The Starfall learn-to-read program was created to meet the needs of the emergent reader by incorporating rhyming games and high-interest books that teach phonemic awareness (sounds in words), phonics, decoding skills, and comprehension. The program is designed to instill confidence and enable the child to proceed as quickly as possible to a balanced reading program.

Oneida Armory Update- Great News

Im guessing because so many people went last year the armory will now be open Monday thru Friday (every week day) from 9-12. Here is some of what is included:

They have a bounce house, balls, huge open gym, ect.

From my own experience they also have a thomas car that kids can take turns on, basketball hoops that arent used (maybe could be for the older homeschoolers) one of those slide things that the car runs down, and some of those stacked together soft blocks that are slides and stuff. There are also hoola hoops and a climbing thing with a small slide that the kids fly off. Oh, and there is a basketball hoop for the little ones.

This is a great place to go, most moms there are christian type or homeschoolers themselves so you arent going to be judged.

I still dont know if they are open just yet, but will hear soon I hope.
